triosence was founded in 1999 by the pianist and composer Bernhard Schüler and currently plays in the line-up with Omar Rodriguez Calvo on bass and Tobias Schulte on drums. triosence - derived from trio-essence - refers musically and by name to the approach of equal rights for the instruments.

Over the years, the trio has developed a fresh, unmistakable style from elements of jazz, fusion, folk and world music and has made modern European jazz known worldwide. With its strong focus on melody and the essence of the song, triosence has succeeded in inspiring a wide audience beyond the boundaries of the jazz scene. triosence has performed around the globe - with tours in Germany, the USA, China, Brazil, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, France, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, Turkey, Lebanon, Romania, Albania and many other countries. The new album "Stories of Life" is a musical portrait of snapshots from life. In each track, bandleader and composer Bernhard Schüler explores the tragedy and beauty of stories from everyday life and paints these experiences in beguilingly melodious, captivating instrumental compositions. Great joy and deep pain, the seemingly banal and the truly life-changing are often surprisingly close together.

"We create a total crossover", explains Bernhard Schüler, "this is music that comes along in a classic jazz formation - with piano, bass and drums - but you can no longer call it jazz in the conventional sense. I'm interested in strong melodies and clear song structures. Focusing on the essentials is important to me, or in other words: getting to the point musically."
