Susanne Siegert, born in 1992, educates people about the Holocaust on Instagram and TikTok under @keine.erinnerungskultur. She has 300,000 followers across all platforms, for whom she presents complex historical topics - such as Nazi crimes, subcamps and anti-Semitic symbolism - in short, intensively researched clips for young target groups. Last year, the journalist was awarded the ELNET Prize and the Grimme Online Award for her work. Now you can experience the activist live at her book presentation "Rethinking Remembrance" at Bergson!
Our culture of remembrance must change. Susanne Siegert explains how and why in her book. She argues for a pluralistic, new form of remembrance with a focus on the responsibility of the descendants of the generation of perpetrators instead of our "rehearsed" joint review with the victims. It is about lesser-known Nazi crimes, lesser-known places and previously neglected groups of victims. At the same time, this book shows how important a more active, diverse culture of remembrance is in order to reach future generations even without direct eyewitness accounts. The author will read from her book and invites you to an open discussion at the Bergson Academy.
