Under the title "Words not Weapons - The Quiet Power of Culture in Foreign Policy", this evening is dedicated to the silent but lasting power of cultural encounters.

Peter Kettner, Head of Division for Fundamental Issues of Foreign Cultural and Social Policy at the Federal Foreign Office, will provide insights into the strategic importance of cultural diplomacy and report on the practice of international cultural work. The speaker has worked at the German embassies in Almaty and Ankara. He has also worked for the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights and headed the office of former Federal President Christian Wulff.

The discussion will open up perspectives on how culture not only connects, but can also actively contribute to peace - beyond power politics and military logic.

On this evening, we will also shed light on the speech by former Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on the presentation of the Guidelines for Feminist Foreign Policy on March 1, 2023 and explore the question of what has happened in the field of foreign cultural and social policy since that day and what implementation looks like in practice.
