Norwegian composer and internationally acclaimed tuba player Daniel Herskedal is returning to the Bergson! In July 2024, while our concert hall was still under construction, he showcased his fabulous talent in the expansive space of our atrium, captivating a large audience. His music is captivating, fascinating, and moving all at once.
We were determined to invite Daniel back so that audiences could experience his music in various acoustic settings within Europe’s smartest concert hall.
What Daniel Herskedal draws from his tuba and bass trumpet is impressive: No sooner does the sound artist begin to play than his hypnotically beautiful music envelops you, oscillating between jazz, avant-garde, and chamber music. The music unfolds with the utmost grace and serenity and is characterized by a sonic aesthetic reminiscent of film scores. Rarely does one hear a musician who plays with such depth, emotional intensity, and virtuosity while simultaneously pushing the limits of his instrument to the very extreme.
Herskedal’s talent for incorporating the tuba and bass trumpet into multi-layered sound compositions is unique; he creates fascinating and sublime music—which we distribute throughout the space to provide a 360° audio experience. An experience that is truly one-of-a-kind and possible only in “Europe’s smartest concert hall.”
