Who doesn't know the old stories? "I heard Martha Argerich when nobody knew her" or "I was there when the Beatles played to just a handful of people at the Indra in Hamburg!" And who doesn't think a little enviously: Man, I would have loved to have been there!

With the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts, you can do just that! Experience the best pianists of their generation, the recent winners of the major international piano competitions, up close. And with programs that they have put together themselves and therefore have a very personal character. This time we are looking forward to Yifan Wu.

The Ferrucio Busoni International Piano Competition has existed since 1949 and is famous for the fact that it almost never awards a first prize. Martha Argerich won it, Alfred Brendel "only" came fourth. In more than half of the competitions, no first prize was awarded, sometimes even four years in a row. There was one in 2025 - for Yifan Wu. The pianist, born in Shanghai in 2005, is coming to the Bergson and has brought a small-scale, personal program with him that includes Mendelssohn, Schumann, Scarlatti and others, as well as his own arrangement.

Program:

Domenico Scarlatti: Sonata in E minor, K. 9 (arrangement by Carl Tausig)

Federico Mompou: from Paisajes
- La fuente y la campana
- El lago

Antonio Soler: Sonata in F sharp major, R. 90

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: Prelude and Fugue in E minor, op. 35 no. 1

Arvo Pärt: For Alina (1976)

Robert Schumann: In the beautiful month of May, op. 48 No. 1, from Dichterliebe
(arrangement for piano by the performer)

Robert Schumann: Piano Sonata No. 1 in F sharp minor, op. 11
