An Afternoon with Monaco Franze to Mark Helmut Fischer's 100th Birthday

On November 15, 2026—100 years ago—Helmut Fischer, the incomparable Monaco Franze, was born.

In his honor, we’re showing all episodes of the cult series “Monaco Franze – Der ewige Stenz” at the Elektra Tonquartier in the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk. Look forward to an afternoon full of Munich charm, subtle humor, and timeless stories featuring the “eternal Stenz,” whose zest for life continues to inspire us to this day.

Afterward, we invite you to a small reception at the Bergson Gallery. There, you’ll find an exhibition by renowned photographer Michael von Hassel, who—to mark the 100th anniversary of Helmut Fischer’s birth—has captured the original filming locations of “Monaco Franze – The Eternal Dandy” in photographs. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet actors from the “Monaco Franze” production at a meet-and-greet. Drinks at the reception are included in the admission price.

To mark the 100th birthday of Helmut Fischer, a panel discussion will explore the life, work, and legacy of the unforgettable Munich actor. Moderated by Christoph Leibold (BR), Michaela May, Dr. Sybille Krafft, and Dr. Beatrice Wichmann will shed light on Helmut Fischer from personal, journalistic, and historical perspectives. The event is organized by the German Theater Museum in Munich, which took over Helmut Fischer’s estate in 2026, and is held in cooperation with Bayern 2.
