The tobacco landscape is changing: e-cigarettes, nicotine pouches and tobacco heaters promise a smoke-free but still nicotine-containing experience. But where is this trend leading? In his lecture "Full steam ahead into adventure", PD Dr. Tobias Rüther takes a critical look at the consumer behavior surrounding new nicotine products. Dr. Rüther is head of the day clinic for addiction and the addiction outpatient clinic, as well as the tobacco outpatient clinic at the LMU Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy.

At this Bergson Academy evening, he will shed light on the psychological and medical background to smoking, discuss the role of the tobacco industry in the establishment of new products and present the latest scientific findings on risks, opportunities and social consequences.
