With 400,000 listeners per month, Bremer/McCoy from Denmark have created their own reserved cosmos in a noisy time. Fittingly, the title of the award-winning duo's sixth album is "Kosmos". With piano and double bass, they want to convey a world view rooted in deep connection and a sense of freedom. "Kosmos" is a statement without exclamation marks or capital letters. It is an attempt by two Danish musicians to capture the world that they stand for - and that they want to share with others. Experience the meditative, dub-inspired jazz from Copenhagen, live in Europe's smartest concert hall.
The two musicians have a common background and have known each other since their youth. Yet today they lead very different lives - Morten McCoy lives with his wife and children in a commune on a farm, while Jonathan Bremer leads a fast-paced city life. However, they always find each other in music because they can be fully present together there. Their fans love them for their trance-like experiences and their calm, beautiful, stripped-down music.
Morten McCoy: "People have always made music. We sat around campfires and sang. We have danced. When we play together or listen together, we communicate without words. And right now it's important to remember to communicate, as many feel that we are in difficult times. What we represent is apolitical communication. One of my biggest concerns is division. The fact that people's political viewpoints prevent them from talking to each other, even though they have so much in common. Everyone enjoys a walk in the woods, and I think everyone feels a fundamental joy and peace when they witness something beautiful being created."
The duo's concerts create this intimate and immediate atmosphere. They don't improvise solos, but songs. They don't jam aimlessly, but immerse themselves in a story. They don't know at the beginning what story they are going to tell, but discover it together.
