Guided tour of the Bergson exhibition: discover EARTH MATTERS and KALO
This exhibition tour gives you exciting insights and background information on the two current exhibitions EARTH MATTERS and KALO at the Bergson Gallery.
The group exhibition EARTH MATTERS in the new building focuses on the complex interplay between humans, nature and technology and uses analytical and poetic artistic approaches to draw attention to the urgency of a conscious approach to the earth. With Olaf Otto Becker, Andreas Greiner, Kathrin Linkersdorff, Maximilian Prüfer and Tamiko Thiel, five internationally renowned artists will be presenting their works:inside works that deal with central issues of our time: the consequences of industrialization, the effects of human drive for optimization and the not always foreseeable consequences of technological developments.
Digital works, photographs, sculptures and the special technique of nature typography open up new perspectives on ecological systems, biological life forms and technical artifacts - and their potential to bring about change and transformation both with and without human intervention.These include landscape photographs from Sumatra that capture the beauty of the jungle forever and a huge sculpture that looks like a dinosaur skeleton but is actually the skeleton of an oversized mast chicken.
We also visit the KALO exhibition by Munich artist Janine Mackenroth in the former coal silos. The focus is on questions of value, capital and the social coding of material, particularly in the field of tension between coal as a raw material and "coal" in the sense of money. Among other things, we are showing stainless steel works fired with organic propane gas, paintings made from plant-based nail polish in banknote colors, a fragrance installation, an object made from shredded banknotes, a metal gender star and a nail polish specially developed for the exhibition. In her work, the artist addresses issues of equality and sustainability.
