A Christmas Oratorio - The Bergson Voices sing Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël
Die Bergson Voices singen das Oratorio de Noël von Camille Saint-Saëns
Ein Weihnachtsoratorium

On the third weekend of Advent, the Bergson Voices will perform a very special work: the Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) - a musical Christmas gift that has moved hearts since 1858, but is still an insider tip.

Barely 23 years old, Saint-Saëns wrote this Christmas oratorio in just a few days, creating a very individual setting of the Christmas story: gentle, flooded with light, with a clarity that hovers between Bach, Gounod and French Impressionism. No timpani, no pathos, instead harp, organ, strings and five solo voices that dissolve into music like stained glass.

The work begins almost like a prayer: with a delicate prelude for organ and strings. Then the space opens up with chorales, arias and fine ensemble movements that focus entirely on atmosphere and timbre. It is a Christmas oratorio that does not overwhelm, but touches.

At a time when the festivities are often noisy, this concert is an invitation to silence, beauty and the memory of wonder.

The program also includes Christmas highlights such as the "Ave Maria" by Bach/Gounod and the "Abendsegen" from "Hansel and Gretel" by Humperdinck.

With polyphonic splendor, young soloists and the special atmosphere of the Elektra Tonquartier, the Bergson Voices invite you to their Christmas concert of quiet intensity.
