On October 9, the time had finally come: we celebrated the official opening of the Elektra Tonquartier with an unforgettable opening event that still gives us a little tingle in our stomach when we look back. Over 800 guests experienced the festive inauguration of the Elektra Tonquartier - Europe's smartest concert hall. The event, aptly named "Big Bang", offered a mixture of a double concert, a multi-course flying dinner and an after-show party with DJ.
Techno jazz meets classical bangers
The evening was characterized by two concerts that took place in parallel: At the Elektra Tonquartier, the Jazzrausch Bigband swept the audience off their feet with their energetic pieces from the anniversary album "BANGERS ONLY!". A powerful sound that went through your bones. Under the direction of Leonhard Kuhn, our house ensemble played well-known hits from ten years of band history as well as new pieces.
Meanwhile, the Bergson Phil' celebrated their debut in the atrium. Under the direction of conductor Johanna Soller, the newly founded chamber orchestra presented popular classics of acoustic music - from Beethoven to Tchaikovsky and Rossini, arranged by Alexander Krampe.
After the concerts, the guests swapped places: Those who had experienced the Jazzrausch Bigband first moved into the atrium to see the Bergson Phil', and vice versa. This change not only created movement in the hall, but also an exciting connection between the two musical worlds.
Cuisine and art: pleasure for all the senses
But the evening didn't just have a lot to offer musically. The multi-course flying dinner spoiled the guests with a variety of small courses. After the concerts, all of our guests met up again in the atrium, where Bergson artist DJ Lazykid provided danceable beats to which the guests celebrated exuberantly. The gallery in the silos also opened its doors and gave the evening an additional artistic dimension.
With the Elektra Tonquartier, Munich has gained one of the most modern concert halls in Europe and the Bergson Phil' chamber orchestra and the Jazzrausch Bigband set new standards right from the start. What an opening!
