Roman Sladek

Trombone, Moderation

Roman is the forefather of the Jazzrausch big band and an entrepreneur with entertainer qualities. The determined Austro-Frenchman regularly works himself into a frenzy during his core working hours from 2 p.m. to 4 a.m. with what he describes as his real instrument, his laptop. Only Apple products are considered for his technical equipment. As soon as a new model of the mobile device is released, it must be purchased immediately. In favor of his boundless commitment to the big band, he officially stopped practicing the trombone some time ago. Since his past as a metal drummer, he has been internally synchronized with a MIDI clock. During our concerts, he is both a roaring motivator and an inimitable showman. Things can get dangerous for the members of the saxophone section, who regularly become the loving victims of the running gags that accompany the evening. Thanks to his great sense of humor, however, he manages to provoke uproarious laughter around the clock anyway. From the very beginning, Roman has shaped our conversations by stoically interspersing Anglicisms and post-Swabian artificial language until they develop a life of their own in the band. After the end of the concert, Roman stows his "very cheap but very good" trombone in a semi-insecure place so that he can immediately be at the front line at the merchandise stand to answer questions. Outside of working hours, Roman is always up for a company outing to Harry Klein, be it for a little dance into Thursday or to further his musical education. His preference for aesthetically pleasing cars makes Roman's Audi his living room and place of relaxation. For the happy occupants, the rolling techno-fridge enables a touring life with a genuine customer experience. Breaks are not desirable under 500 km and direct trips are always preferable. If Roman were to organize a show in Antarctica in the near future, none of us would really be surprised, but all of us would be there.
