Serafina Starke at Bergson: song recital "Weltentrückt" between poetry and sound
Serafina Starke is one of the best young sopranos around. After delighting audiences with orchestral songs by Felix Mendelssohn at the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in the Passion Concerts, she now returns with her piano partner Rebeka Stojkoska to present her song program "Weltentrückt".
In the first part, "Im Gewand der Poesie", numerous settings revolve around the mysterious figure of Suleika. In songs such as "Suleikas Lied I" or "Ach, um deine feuchten Schwingen", love, the experience of nature and poetic rapture merge into a musical language that lifts people beyond themselves. The music seems to float - carried by wind, water and inner movement.
The second part, "Myths", takes us deeper into legendary worlds. Rhine landscapes, water creatures and legends come to life in songs such as "Die Loreley", "Der Fischer" and Mahler's "Rheinlegendchen". Here, the audience encounters a nature that is both seductive and uncanny - a mirror of inner states in which reality and dream merge.
The third part, "Es flittert ein Licht", finally opens up a space of the finest moods. Works by Alexander Zemlinsky and Arnold Schoenberg allow light and shadow, sound and silence to flow into one another. In these songs, the "otherworldly" becomes almost physically tangible - as a state between being awake and dreaming, between closeness and sinking in.
The result is an evening of songs that not only brings well-known masterpieces to life in a new way, but above all creates a shared atmosphere: pausing, listening, losing oneself in music and poetry.
