As a pianist, composer and arranger, Tim Allhoff moves confidently between classical music and jazz: with a style that transcends the boundaries between genres - and is particularly moving with its profound yet contemporary tone.

For over two decades, the novels of Japanese author Haruki Murakami have been an important source of inspiration for Allhoff. In recent years, he has also studied the Japanese language and culture intensively, developing a deeper understanding of the subtle nuances in Murakami's writing. Time to dedicate an album to this! We present: "Between here and Nowhere"!

Murakami's way of combining the everyday with the surreal creates an atmosphere that is both familiar and unreal at the same time. His stories revolve around themes such as longing, connection and life in the interstices of time, memory and imagination. This quiet, enigmatic tension is also reflected in Allhoff's musical language. Music also plays a central role in the author's world - as an emotional pulse that drives the characters and their stories. References to jazz, classical music and pop - from Thelonious Monk and Schumann to Radiohead and the Beatles - match Tim Allhoff's own taste in music astonishingly well. Some pieces on the album are reinterpretations of musical references from Murakami's novels, others are original compositions written as imaginary soundtracks to specific scenes or characters.

At his album release concert, Tim Allhoff will perform one or two Murakami texts in addition to the piano music.
