The Bassmonsters: Rock Meets Classical Music at Bergson
The crème de la crème of low tones—four double basses at their very best!
Since the release of their album *Unio*, The Bassmonsters have been attracting international attention. The press and audiences alike are celebrating the ensemble for its extraordinary blend of classical virtuosity, rock energy, and sonic innovation.
Founded by renowned double bassist Claus Freudenstein, the quartet brings together Philipp Stubenrauch (Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra), Thomas Hille (Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz), and Blai Gumi Roca (Bavarian State Orchestra), the quartet brings together three of Munich’s leading solo double bassists.
In live performances, The Bassmonsters leave their audience breathless, astonishing the amazed listeners when they crank up the bass in their numbers, sending the mood soaring to new heights.
The Bassmonsters create a unique synthesis of rock music and classical artistry by making the music of Deep Purple, AC/DC, Steppenwolf, Michael Jackson, and Guns N’ Roses their own, without “robbing the originals of their soul.” Film scores and works composed specifically for The Bassmonsters round out this double bass extravaganza—with or without a bow, whichever “suits the bass”— and give the numbers an exciting, exotic—perhaps even “Bom-Bass-tical”—“signature sound.”
The Bassmonsters—a string quartet to rock out with.
