Lakecia Benjamin "We Dream" - One of the most celebrated jazz musicians of our time

Their music sounds like funk and soul, like R&B and hip-hop, like the very best jazz tradition in the style of Charlie Parker and John Coltrane - and yet always beats to the rhythm of a young generation. If jazz has a spirit, then it sounds like this...

For her last albums "Phoenix" and "Phoenix Reimagined", New York-based saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin received several Grammy nominations in 2024, the 6th (!) in total in November 2025 for her single "Noble Rise" as "Best Jazz Performance". She received the 2023 German Jazz Award in the "International Wind Instruments" category and was voted Alto Saxophonist of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association (USA).

Given the personal history Benjamin has lived through in recent years, her live performances are downright life-affirming. In 2021, she was involved in a car accident that resulted in several injuries that could have ended her career: Benjamin broke her jaw, shoulder blade and ribs, among other things, and suffered a ruptured eardrum. Today, she has regained her confidence and physical strength and is embracing any limitations the accident may have imposed on her - it seems she is turning them into super power. Benjamin's live performances are bursting with energy, confidence and greatness.

The European tour for the new album "We Dream" finally brings Lakecia Benjamin to the stage of Europe's smartest concert hall, the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk.
