At Bergson: Music History Meets the Future, Grammy Winner Meets Rising Star
Coming all the way from New York: At Bergson, seven-time Grammy winner and jazz trumpet legend Randy Brecker brings his distinctive musical style to the Konstantin Kölmel Project. As one of the defining trumpeters of modern jazz, the co-founder of the legendary jazz-rock band “Blood, Sweat & Tears” has performed with greats such as Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Charles Mingus, Joe Henderson, and the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Orchestra. He has also collaborated with artists such as James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Parliament-Funkadelic, David Sanborn, Jaco Pastorius, and Frank Zappa.
The band led by the young drummer and bandleader Konstantin Kölmel represents a new generation of jazz musicians from Europe who are breaking down the boundaries between jazz, funk, R&B, and electronic elements, fusing them into a distinctive, modern sound. The project brings together singer Kilian Sladek (known as a Bergson Artist and former member of the German National Jazz Orchestra), saxophonist Nikola Bankov (Forbes “30 Under 30”), pianist Justin Zitt, guitarist Valentin Hansel, and bassist Paul Dupont. They are all united by a passion for a modern jazz sound. The program includes well-known songs penned by Randy Brecker as well as tracks from the Konstantin Kölmel Project’s latest album, “Confidence feat. Nils Landgren.”
Together, they create music that is sophisticated yet immediately accessible, striking a balance between virtuosity, groove, and emotional depth.
