Organ Sound 360°: “The Queen of Instruments” - Great organ works by Johann Sebastian Bach in different acoustic worlds
Große Orgelwerke von Johann Sebastian Bach in verschiedenen akustischen Welten
Orgelsound 360°: “Die Königin der Instrumente”

The Elektra Tonquartier may be Europe's smartest concert hall - but it doesn't have an organ... Until now! Because this spectacular organ concert combines both: immortal works by Johann Sebastian Bach and the versatile acoustics of the room.

The occasion is the Bachfest Munich, whose artistic director is the concert's soloist. Hansjörg Albrecht performs as a conductor and organist all over the world. He recently caused a sensation with his organ transcription and recording of all eleven symphonies by Anton Bruckner. In the Bergson, he takes you into different worlds of sound: For example, to the magnificent abbey church in Caen, France, and the rich, symphonic sound of its organ by the legendary master builder Aristide Cavaillé-Coll. Or to the Freiberg church of St. Petri in Saxony with its clear and "silvery" sounding instrument by Gottfried Silbermann. Or across the "big pond" to Pasadena in the USA. The "Presbyterian Church" there has an organ by Ernst Martin Skinner, which not only has a powerful, orchestral sound, but also boasts some witty special stops.

How does it work? The new Hauptwerk system of the Orgelhaus im Stiftland makes it possible to combine so-called samples from famous organs around the world on an electronic console. We react to this acoustically: on the one hand, we set the reverberation times as they are in the original location. On the other hand, we distribute the stops in the room, let them come from different directions and thus reinforce the impression of sitting in churches of different sizes.

A new sound experience - not only for those who love the organ and Bach!

With the kind support of the Orgelhaus im Stiftland.
