When you trust your gut feeling, you give in to your most natural inclinations. Michael Mayo relies completely on his intuition as a singer, composer, songwriter and arranger. He creates from the heart, without filters, allowing his voice to express raw emotion over a constantly evolving backdrop of jazz, neo-soul and R&B.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, music literally surrounded him from the beginning. His mother already shone as a sought-after backing singer alongside Beyoncé, Diana Ross, Luther Vandross and Whitney Houston. His father not only sang, but also played saxophone for Earth, Wind & Fire.

To develop the power of his voice, he eventually attended the New England Conservatory of Music and the Thelonious Monk Institute at UCLA (now the Hancock Institute of Jazz). After graduating, he released his debut album "Bones" in 2021, which generated millions of streams.

At the age of 28, Michael Mayo impresses with his versatility: he switches effortlessly between interpreting jazz standards - whether with a big band or in a small line-up - and his own experimental compositions. He skillfully uses loop pedals to create new possibilities for spontaneous improvisation.
