Martin Kälberer is back at the Elektra Tonquartier!

Martin Kälberer, a multi-instrumentalist and sound experimenter from Chiemgau, meets Tommy Baldu, one of Germany's most renowned and innovative drummers and sound artists.

For his third guest performance at the Bergson’s Elektra Tonquartier, Martin Kälberer has fulfilled a long-held dream and is shaping the evening together with an extraordinary musician and kindred spirit. Tommy Baldu is undoubtedly one of the most creative minds in the German music scene. The list of artists he has worked with as a drummer or producer ranges from Laith Al-Deen, the Söhne Mannheims, and Gregor Meyle to Georg Ringsgwandl and Stephan Eicher, all the way to Sebastian Studnitzky, Joo Kraus, Daniel Stelter, and David Orlowsky. His range is immense, and his instinct for finding the right sound in the right place is unique.

The two met during a CD production for the Italian cantautore Pippo Pollina, whom Kälberer has been producing for many years. Truly “inspired” by the musicality and creativity of the man who is far more than “just” a drummer, Kälberer spontaneously invited the South Baden-based artist Baldu to contribute to his latest studio project, “into the light.” It was a special encounter that hardly needed words. And so the next step seemed only logical: to make music together on stage. Now, Martin Kälberer’s ethereal, acoustic-electronic soundscapes meet powerful drum beats, delicate soundscapes, and grounded grooves. All under the motto “Deep & Slow”—no rock, no jazz, no house, and no folk… but rather: instrumental music at its very finest from the in-between world of genrelessness.
