Ulrich Wickert invites you to an exciting evening at the Bergson Academy - with a fascinating look into the world of Jacques Ricou and a personal review of a life in the service of truth.

The focus is on Wickert's new crime novel "The Robbery in the Tunnel", the eighth volume in the successful Jacques Ricou series (publication date 31.10.2025). With a sure feel for current issues, he tells the story of a spectacular robbery in the middle of Paris: examining magistrate Ricou and his girlfriend Margaux witness a brutal robbery. The loot - a briefcase containing a mysterious Bitcoin key - leads directly into a web of arms deals, corruption and digital money laundering. And it soon becomes clear that the case is more closely linked to Ricou's own investigations than he would like.

But the evening goes far beyond the crime story. Ulrich Wickert also provides insights into his life as a journalist - from his early foreign assignments to his time as ARD correspondent in Paris and New York and his formative role as presenter of "Tagesthemen". He talks about the responsibility of the media, the changes in journalism and the question of what truth actually means in times of disinformation.
