Larger than life. On an advertising display in the underground Taipei Mall. This is how the young doctor Novana sees her mother again, the Taiwanese artist March. Eighteen years have passed since March left her behind in Germany without any explanation. Everything that has dominated Novana's life recently fades in the face of this unexpected reunion: her desire for a new beginning, which made her leave Cologne. Everyday life in the neonatal intensive care unit in Taipei. The nights when she wanders sleeplessly through the megacity. Then Novana meets Sihan at a karaoke evening. A fearless activist - lively and determined. Novana feels drawn to her, and something that seemed long lost returns to her life: the possibility of closeness. Leh-Wei Liao's poignant and radically clear story tells of resistant women, of desire and hurt and the uncertain future of Taiwan - and poses the question of what is worth fighting for.
