Isles and Rivers (NEUROPE Festival)
A history of migration between Baroque, Eastern Mediterranean music, and electronic music

"Isles & Rivers" is a program in flux, along solidifying and dissolving borders. It tells the story of music as an eternal story of migration. European baroque music and pieces by Sokratis Sinopoulos, Keyvan and Bijan Chemirani flow together via improvisations and invite you to exit and re-enter the river on different banks - sometimes foaming wildly, sometimes quietly.

In his piece "Knowing Nothing", Yannis Kyriakides, who is also on stage as a live electronic musician, dedicates himself to the philosopher Metrodoros from the island of Chios. At performances in Berlin, Greece and Luxembourg, "Isles & Rivers" left behind an enthusiastic audience, which was not only due to the special concept, but also to the outstanding musicians.

Sokratis Sinopoulos is one of Greece's greatest lyra virtuosos, while Keyvan and Bijan Chemirani have developed their own unique way of playing Persian percussion.
