Guest at Bergson: the Berlin publishing house Matthes & Seitz
An evening with Heike Geißler and Tim Holland, moderated by Marie Schoeß

Matthes & Seitz Berlin has invited its authors from the Rohstoff imprint to Bergson for three evenings.

On the first evening, Heike Geißler and Tim Holland will read from their books "Liegen" and "wir zaudern, wir brennen". The evening will be hosted by Marie Schoeß.

Rohstoff is a publishing house for new German-language texts: prose, essays and poetry between daring and perseverance, morally experimental, aesthetically daring, unbending, non-conformist. This resource promotes raw material and also offers space for experimentation with genres, styles and modes of perception - with all their peculiarities and excesses, breaks and possibilities. Free from trends and the demands of the present, Rohstoff is a place where new literary horizons and the classics of tomorrow are created.

Tim Holland, born in Tübingen in 1987, studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig after training as a bookseller. His debut vom wuchern was published by Gutleut Verlag in spring 2016. Since 2017, he has run hochroth Verlag Munich together with Tristan Marquardt and Hannes Munzinger. He lives in Berlin.

Heike Geißler, born in Riesa in 1977, is an author and co-editor of the magazine series "Lücken kann man lesen". Her novel "Die Woche" was published by Suhrkamp Verlag in 2022.

About Matthes & Seitz

Founded in Berlin in 2004, the publishing house continues the tradition that began in 1977 with the founding of Matthes & Seitz in Munich by Axel Matthes and Claus Seitz. The program from the "no man's land between science and art" (the subtitle of the legendary yearbook "Der Pfahl") was determined by works by mainly French authors that are still available today. In addition to Antonin Artaud, Georges Bataille, Jean Baudrillard and Jean Giono, there are also authors such as Botho Strauß, Oswald Wiener and Hans Jürgen von der Wense.

Since its founding in Berlin, the publishing house has received several awards and has expanded its program to around 100 new publications every year. Important series in the current program are Naturkunden, Fröhliche Wissenschaft, Batterien, Französische Bibliothek and Theologische Brocken.

The important books in the program have been published in affordable paperback editions since 2019. The Paperback series aims to make important and relevant texts accessible to a wide audience.
