Inspired by soul icons such as Billie Holiday, Etta James and Nina Simone, Canadian Dominique Fils-Aimé's self-penned songs tell of the source of her soul. The two-time JUNO (Canadian Grammy) award winner focuses on the history of African-American music culture and reflects on the social realities that have influenced the genres of blues, jazz and soul.

Canada's new "Princess of Peace" - She can sound sensual like Sade, but also accusingly sharp like Nina Simone (SPIEGEL.de)

Dominiqué Fils-Aimee's unique voice and engaging personality will not let you go; she is a musical storyteller with heart and soul. The singer-songwriter touches with her captivating yet gentle voice, which she gives plenty of room to unfold in the reduced arrangements of her songs. Sometimes her band only contributes light percussion and handclaps, while the singer accompanies herself with choirs, humming or loops. Sometimes she is supported by her band with a captivating groove of African percussion, wind instruments, synthesizers and expansive bass lines.
