Bar Zemach is one of the best horn players of his generation. As principal horn in the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, he is a member of the orchestra of understanding founded by the famous conductor Daniel Barenboim, in which Israeli and Arab musicians make music together.
For the concert at the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk, together with pianist Oliver Triendl, he will not only be performing wonderful works for horn and piano, but also another instrument that is particularly close to his heart: the shofar.
He received this traditional Jewish instrument made from the horn of a ram from his grandfather. It is blown in a liturgical context, for example on the major festivals of Rosh ha-Shanah and Yom Kippur. Thanks to his virtuoso skills, Bar also manages to bring this instrument to great effect on the concert stage.
So take this rare opportunity to experience not only the gloriously radiant sounds of the horn, but also the millennia-old, mystical primal sound of the ram's horn, the shofar. An experience that will stay with you!
