Claudia Pichler is one of a kind: at first glance, the Munich native appears as gentle and charming as a spring morning, dissecting all-too-human abysses in fine language with a Bavarian twist and skillfully mastering the entire range of comedy. An evening with Dr. Pichler - she did her doctorate on none other than Gerhard Polt - combines sharp-tongued social observations with wonderfully dry humor. You don't have to be in the boxing ring to get punched. Life is constantly handing out liver hooks, stomach hacks and gnaws.
Sudden illness, dad dies, relationship drama and the hamster also coughs alarmingly. You constantly have to make momentous decisions and yet you are hopelessly overwhelmed by everyday issues such as buying a new toilet seat. Not to mention global crises! How are we supposed to cope with this? Certainly not alone. Humans are social beings and function best in cooperation. That's why loneliness is one of the most threatening diseases of civilization today. Everyone knows it, but nobody likes to talk about it. It lurks around every corner, after a crappy Tinder date, a friendship that's been terminated or in the next perfect social media feed. Because the grass always seems greener on the other side - legally, after all. Resilience is the magic word, because not every crisis can be answered with a counter-beer. Especially not when a sudden histamine intolerance spoils the enjoyment of beer. No beer, no roast pork - what's left of the Bavarian identity?
Quite a lot, as Claudia Pichler proves on stage, lots of profound things, wonderful Schmarrn, hair-raising upsets and funny songs. Because when times get darker, humor becomes darker and more necessary than ever. An evening full of charm, satire and spot-on observations.
