Carnival concert by the Bergson Voices - Alpenglow and a wink with Edward Elgar and Johann Strauss
Alpenglühen und Augenzwinkern mit Edward Elgar und Johann Strauss
Ein Weihnachtsoratorium

The Bergson Voices invite you to a carnival concert that doesn't rely on confetti, but on subtle irony and musical wit.

Edward Elgar's From the Bavarian Highlands looks at our Alpine peculiarities with charming British amazement: a musical travelogue composed in 1895 after a vacation in Oberammergau with a detour to Garmisch to see Richard Strauss - yes, really. Nobody knows better than Mark Twain that the British look at traditional costumes, mountains and dance floors like an ethnological wonder. Maximilian Maier reads from his "Stroll through Europe". And anyone who thinks that "An der schönen blauen Donau" is purely a ballroom tearjerker has not yet heard the choral version - light as a feather, dazzling, almost like carnival in three-four time.

It is the fourth major project of Bergson Voices under the direction of Johannes X. Schachtner, our in-house choir made up of ambitious amateurs and a few selected professionals. This time between yodeling cliché and choral scene, between British humor, Bavarian soul and the question: Is this all still tourism or already self-irony?
