Bühne frei im Studio 2 is a legendary series in which the finest jazz is presented once a month - and has been for almost 60 years! In the meantime, the cult format of Bayerischer Rundfunk has found a new home under a new name in the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk. More precisely, in our cozy live club, the Barbastelle. Welcome to the BR club concert!

This time we welcome Geoff Goodman, Matthieu Bordenave and Rudi Mahall to the Barbastelle. The top-class trio from Munich interprets the extraordinary compositions of Thelonious Monk. With his idiosyncratic piano style and above all his unmistakable compositions, Monk is one of the most important innovators of jazz and the greatest composers of the 20th century. Monk is known for his individual harmonic, melodic and rhythmic concepts. His music is characterized by sensitivity, spiritual depth and musical humour, as well as the generation of swing throughout the evening. The CD "Mostly Monk" is currently nominated for the German Record Critics' Award.
