Art Tour of SUPERMARK€T & KALO at the Bergson Gallery

Our art experts will take you on an inspiring journey through our two current exhibitions, SUPERMARK€T and KALO! During the tour, you’ll gain in-depth insights, learn fascinating background information, and have the opportunity to ask questions. This allows you to discover the exhibited artworks in a new way and experience the exhibition more consciously and deeply.

SUPERMARK€T – Art. Power. Capital. (New Building, Levels 1 & 2)

The group exhibition SUPERMARK€T – Art. Power. Capital. explores how autonomous art can be in an era shaped by visibility, social media, and economic mechanisms. Young artists born in the 1990s and 2000s explore themes such as consumption, attention, social norms, and the rules of the art market. The often surprising works of the younger generation are juxtaposed with established artistic positions, such as those of Alexandra Bircken, Ayzit Bostan, and Peter Kogler. As internationally renowned artists and professors, they have been shaping the next generation of artists for years while simultaneously broadening the perspective on the exhibition’s central theme. The exhibition stages the art space as a sales floor, warehouse, and stage for self-promotion—transforming it into a hybrid of a gallery and a consumer landscape.

KALO (Silos)

The solo exhibition KALO by artist Janine Mackenroth explores and reflects on the multifaceted meanings of “coal”—as a material, as a colloquial term for money, and as a culturally charged metaphor. The artist explores this field of associations in her solo exhibition at the Bergson Gallery and relates it to the former coal silos serving as the exhibition space. In doing so, she works with coal itself, develops her own perfume, and integrates unconventional materials into her artistic practice—ranging from nail polish to shredded euro banknotes and gender stars.
