"Conversation as art" at Bergson: workshop on communication and creativity
A weekend between art and dialogical rhetoric:
How can a conversation become an artistic act? What new ways of thinking emerge when we understand conversation not just as an exchange of information, but as a collective creation? On the occasion of the performative installation "Conversation as Art" , which you can discover in the current exhibition NEUE WELTEN at the Bergson Gallery, this workshop invites you to train dialogical intelligence and explore the aesthetic dimension of conversation. The workshop combines short content-related impulses with practical exercises.
Content of the workshop
In this workshop we look at conversation as a creative, explorative process - a perspective that often takes a back seat to functional or relational aspects.
Analogous to various thinking skills - abstracting, recognizing patterns, drawing conclusions - which are combined in a general intelligence, there is also a cohesive principle of individual dialogical skills: interweaving, sharpening, listening, thinking ahead, staying tuned, developing a common language, opening spaces, building bridges, shaping concepts, building understanding. The aim of the workshop is to explore, cultivate and practically train this dialogical intelligence - in three dimensions: dialogical architectonics, dialogical creativity and dialogical resonance.
Inspired by philosophical concepts from Plato and Cicero to Buber and Gadamer and using methods from improvisational theater, rhetoric, artistic practice and dialogic rhetoric, we work in practical exercises: We try out modes of conversation such as raising/lowering and opening/closing, learn to recognize and influence conversational dynamics and thus develop a feel for the composition of conversations - supplemented by exercises on creativity, concentration and interweaving.
Course of the workshop
The workshop combines short content-related impulses with practical exercises both in the loft and in the NEUE WELTEN exhibition.
In the loft we will work practically, together and in small groups, among other things on the topics: dialogical architectonics, dialogical creativity and dialogical resonance, see announcement text.
