The Jazzrausch Big Band has become known for its genre-defining techno-jazz programs. But at the end of the year, it becomes traditional - with humorous swing and plenty of Christmas spirit. Since its foundation in 2014, the band's repertoire has included its own Christmas program.

The album release concerts celebrate the Jazzrausch Big Band's "Am Weihnachtsabend" program, in which composer Leonhard Kuhn sets Christmas poems to music. Texts by Eichendorff, Fontane and Storm - wrapped in cheerful colors. Paula Dehmel, quick-tempered à la Woody Herman, Tucholsky's words in a lively boogie.

Far removed from mere Christmas folklore, "Am Weihnachtsabend" sounds both familiar and surprising. The Jazzrausch Bigband remains true to itself: full of joyful playing, sonic imagination and the irrepressible desire to take its audience with it - whether in techno clubs, concert halls or on Christmas Eve.
