With SYNAPSES BERGSON, the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk has gained a new artistic landmark in front of its main entrance. On July 16, 2026, the approximately three-meter-tall sculpture by internationally renowned artist Daniel Knorr was unveiled, and even before visitors enter the building, it symbolizes what the Bergson stands for: encounter, exchange, and cultural diversity.

This vibrantly colored work is the centerpiece of a new series by Daniel Knorr, an artist who has participated in documenta 14 and the Venice Biennale. A structure made of metal, pigmented polyurethane, and resin forms a complex network of loops and branches. The organic-looking forms are reminiscent of natural structures as well as of networks that are constantly evolving and interconnected.

The title of the work refers to the synapses of the human nervous system—and thus to the points of contact where information is transmitted, processed, and interconnected. They symbolize communication, perception, and the countless connections that enable our thoughts and actions.

Daniel Knorr explores this theme in his sculpture. The interplay of the individual elements reveals how a vibrant whole emerges from many connections.
