Try and error. That's how the search for the right instrument for Amélie went. There were plenty of things lying around in her father's band cellar for her to try out. In the end, she didn't actually use any of them. Amélie's main instrument is her voice, assisted by the guitar. She can sing anything, but her own songs are her specialty. This is where she can fully express herself and her self-perceived weakness - questioning and brooding too intensely - becomes an artistic added value that makes her unique.
